Trek along the trails to spot wildlife in its natural surroundings including the proboscis monkeys, the monitor lizards, bearded pigs, silver leaf of monkeys and more than one hundred species of birds. The stunning tropical rainforest ranges from the mangrove swamp forest to kerangas (Health forest) to cliff and beach vegetations. Exotic plants found along the trails include the several species of pitcher plants and wild orchids. You may end your trekking at a beautiful secluded swimming beach. Local lunch will be served in the Park’s canteen.

After lunch you will have your time to explore the wildlife and vegetation around the Parks Headquarter on your own or take a walk together with your guide along one of the other short trails around the Headquarter. After tour return to hotel.

EVENING MANGROVE CRUISE + SANTUBONG WILDLIFE ( TOUR DURATION: 5-6 HOURS ) – 24 October 2016

santubong wildlifeYou will meet your guide in the hotel then drive approximately 40-45mins to the resort where you will board a boat which will bring you for a 25minutes ride along the Coastline to the Mangroves of Sarawak. Explore the Riverine Mangrove Forest on a slow drive through the narrow passages. Borneo is the only place in the world where a rare primate species, the Proboscis Monkeys, live. It lives in mangrove forest of the coastal area and riverine forest on the lower reaches of major rivers. Once a group of Proboscis monkeys is sighted take your time to watch these animals in their natural habitat.

Shortly before darkness we will leave the Mangrove forest to experience the beautiful sunset. We will enter the mangroves once more in darkness. This slow boat ride through the Mangrove forest will offer a rare opportunity to see the wild crocodiles of the River. Use torch lights to find the reflection of crocodile eyes in the water and on land. Enjoy the sound of the Mangroves in the night and search for

Fireflies. Fireflies are soft bodied beetles which sizes range from 5 to 25 millimetres in length. On the underside of the abdomen it has special light organs that glows in luminous flashes. These amazing animals can be found along the trees of the Riverine Mangrove forest and will light some trees up like a Christmas tree. After tour, transfer for dinner before return to hotel

HALF DAY WIND & FAIRY CAVES TOUR. ( TOUR DURATION : 5 HOURS ) – 24 October 2016

windcaveIn the morning depart from your hotel in city to commence Bau Fairy and Wind Caves Tour. The local people of Bau Town, hold this cave in high reverence. To reach this cave, you will be driven past countryside of Sarawak for about 45 km, passing several farms and plantation, to reach Bau town. Your local guide will be proud to explain to you the agricultural methods of the local farmers of Sarawaks. Bau town, a small town inhabited and the Bidayuh’s a tribe living in Sarawak, is fascinating small up country town for the visitor.

From the entrance, a wooden staircase will lead you to the Chambers of the caves of Fairies. Don’t hold your breathe when you see the extremely human like stalagmites and stalactites, or feel the presence of fairies ! For the Bidayuh tribe who live in Bau today, the Chamber of this cave is believed to be the home of fairies, and also home to the people who turned to stone in the legendary Kapur village. You will be held spell bound as you stand in the presence of fairies, and listen to your guide tell you the Legend of the Caves of Fairies, and the stone people. However, to the Chinese people, who live in same town, they believe this cave to be the Home of their Gods and Goddes, You will see worships of two different religions in this cave, the pagan of fairy religion of native Bidayuhs, and the Chinese ancestral worship, burning of joss sticks and offerings. From the Chamber, these is a path leading to the hilltop of Mount Kapur, where you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding villages, valleys and forest below. The tour continues with a visit to the next cave, The Wind Cave. Staircase and plank walks lead to the main cave and two underground tunnels. A continuous breeze surge through the tunnels, giving the cave its name. Here, you can also sit and relax under the big Sun shades made of tropical hardwood, surrounded with forest and a river running alongside the cave. You may wish to take a cool dip in the river. Toilet and changing rooms are available for your convenience. After the tour, you will be transferring back to Kuching.

2 DAYS 1 NIGHT LONGHOUSE SAFARI – 24 October until 25 October 2016

DAY 01 – Kuching / Longhouse Safari  [L/D]

After breakfast, our guide will meet you in the lobby you will proceed for 2D/1N Ngemah River Safari, situated about 250km from Kuching City town,  with a few stops along the way: the first one at Serian Town – a predominantly Dayak trading town, where we will stop for stretching legs, shopping for gifts for the Ibans. Second – Chinese farm house to see how pepper and cocoa are grown. The last stop will be at “Lachau” a small upcountry Chinese Village, where you stop for lunch. The journey passes through scenic countryside or rice fields, rubber, cocoa, pepper, oil palm plantations which intermingle with luxuriant tropical rainforest, rivers and mountain ranges.

After lunch, we proceed to the final stage of the journey and arrive at the Lubok Subong jetty. Here you will board native longboat and travel by longboat further up the river to an Iban Longhouse. On arrival at the longhouse, leave your belongings in the family room. You will served with coffee and tea and mingle with the families. Dinner will be served at one of the family room.

After dinner, the Ibans will sound their gongs and perform their traditional warrior and maiden dance in full ceremonial regalia with the longhouse’s chief and folk. Rice Wine “Tuak” will be served. Overnight spent in the Longhouse with mattress/mosquito-nets/pillow (very basic accommodation).

 

DAY 02 – Longhouse Lemanak / Kuching    [L]

The Iban people will give you a presentation with their traditional weapon, the blowpipe. After the blowpipe presentations followed by a short jungle trekking through their plantation and see the animal trapping methods. Native lunch will be served at the Riverbank. Now it is time to say goodbye to the Ibans. After proceeding downriver by longboat to the jetty, return to Kuching with a short Stopover in Lachau for refreshment (drinks not included in the package price), and transfer to back to Kuching.

For the visitor seeking adventure it has everything, the world’s most extensive cave system, rock climbing, jungle trekking, kayaking, mountain biking, river rapids, and fascinating people, including Sarawak’s last nomadic tribe.

And you can do all these activities using a five-star luxury hotel as your base or stay overnight in comfortable chalets or jungle huts. Most of the park was unexplored until Britain’s Royal Geographic Society surveyed it in the late 1970s. What wonders they found!

Three mountains dominate the 544 square-kilometer park – Gunung Mulu, Gunung Api and Gunung Benarat, the latter still unclimbed. They are honeycombed by the world’s most extensive cave system. So far 310 kilometers of passages have been surveyed and that is only a third of what is believed to exist.

The system includes the world’s largest natural chamber, Sarawak Chamber, capable of holding 47 jumbo jets, the world’s largest cave passage, Deer Cave, and the longest cave in Southeast Asia, Clearwater Cave, which runs for 108 kilometers and has never been traversed from end to end.

Day 01 ARRIVAL – LANG’S & DEER CAVES – BAT EXODUS (D)

Meet and arrival at Mulu airport and transfer to Mulu Marriott Resort & SPA

Afternoon, meet at resort lobby and transfer to Mulu National Park headquarters for registrationand proceed on plank walk for 3KM to reach Deer Cave & Lang Cave. After exploring the caves, proceed to bats observatory to observe bats flying or of caves entrance at late evening. ( Only confine to fine weather ). Return journey on the same plank walk to park headquarters and transfer back to Mulu Marriott Resort & SPA.

Dinner will be serve at the Resort.

Day 02 PENAN SETTLEMENT/WIND & CLEARWATER CAVES/FREE & EASY (B/PL/D)

After breakfast transfers by longboat proceed to Batu Bungan- Penan Settlement, to observe the tribe lifestyle and to select handicrafts on display for sale at Penan Settlement. Continue journey by longboat to Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts and later on you can enjoy swimming at Clearwater spring. Late afternoon return transfer by longboat to your accommodation then free and easy at own leisure. Dinner will be serve at Resort.

Heart 2 Heart with Orang utan is a one day program which gives participants a closer look to behind the scene orangutan conservation work. The program starts with briefing on the conservation program in a “Get to know” session before proceeding for a guided tour of the Wildlife center. They will be introduces and assigned tasks and areas of responsibilities or duties which include cages cleaning, food preparations for orang utans, orang utan enrichment program, assisting in related research and education or other tasks will be assigned to each participant. At the end of the day a Heart 2 Heart Participation Certificate will be issued to acknowledge their contributions to the Centre’s activities.

Additional, participants can opt to play further role in conservation as an “adopter” of orangutan at the Centre, Adopters will be given updates on the progress of orang utans at the two centres and will be presented an adoption certificate.

Funds collected through Orangutan Adoption Program, subsequently will be used to support  conservation work including:-

  • Various projects on orangutan conservation
  • Education program for local communities on orangutan conservation, and
